Abalina was one of my first Nutcrackers to embellish.

Her paint wasn’t to bad and I loved the colors and charming details in her painted dress so I left it that way…just a bit of touch up.

She had horrid plastic colored jewels glued haphazardly on her crown, scepter, dress and sleeves.

Hideous plastic necklace had to go.replaced with array of  glass seed beads.

 Abalina  is 25 1/2″  Tall

Embellbellishing details:

A vintage bird brooch sits at the lovely beaded pinicle of her crown…with vintage millinery flowers and braided trims….a turquoise colored pin at her forehead..painted it with a prettier green.

Deep antique rose trim and golden jacquard ribbon bodice and blue sparkly braided trim as a belt and down the front of her dress.
Epaulet’s are dangling metal and green glass repurposed earrings.
Millinery pale pink flowers around her puffy sleeves and down the front.
Shiny trims around her wrist.

Draping down her back the lovely cape is all hand stitched and made with vintage blue and golden textiles…trimmed with antique deep rose fringe to match her bodice.
A cross with blue stone adorns the center of the cape.
Bottom corners have brass tulip motifs.

Golden snowflakes accent the cross at the top of the scepter.
To finish it off there are lovely dangling brass teardrops..vintage rose beads and gold balls.

Vintage jewelry finding at front.

She is one on a kind and crafted with care.

I found Abalina in the summer of 08 while on the hunt..I happened upon 158 NUTCRACKERS from a church sale in nearby Bridgeton……many are in need of recovery so I have been upcycling them giving them a new chance to be admired.
see posting entitled “158 Crackers Found”
